RILEY ELF & WOLSELEY HORNET
As most people know the introduction of the Elf and Hornet models in the early 1960’s was an
attempt by BMC not only to create an up market Mini, but to to try and make more profit from the Mini range. As far as the interior trim was concerned, these cars were equipped with leather faced seats and differently designed trim panels.
Mk.I & II cars had the same trim fitted, whereas the MK.III cars were updated to have a different design on the seats.
On the trim panels the same thing occurred with two different designs between the early and later MK.III’s. Unlike other early Minis, these cars were fitted with a one piece headlining in Cream Crackle. The early cars had a sunvisor with a central fitting with a rather fancy chrome bracket, cars made during 1964/5 had a visor with a chromed swivel bracket at one end with a plastic peg at the other end. Later models used a similar pad which was attached to the body at either end with chrome brackets. Please see chart for details of each type.
Our brand new moulded carpet set for these models will revolutionize the interior of your car. The front carpet is moulded with sound deadening material included. The rear mat also has sound deadening included as have the front wheel arch pieces and under dash bulkhead. Sill carpets and a vinyl handbrake gaiter complete the kit. A set of carpet clips and floor studs together with fitting instructions are also included. A carpeted boot board was fitted as standard to all these models.
